Staffing Case Studies




K&A's executive staffing group has undertaken a diversified mix of challenging objectives and completed them with a seldomly matched success rate. Below are overviews of a few of our recent staffing assignments:


Out of a field of about 100 firms, K&A was selected as a preferred staffing partner for a major, worldwide process control company. The partnering agreement provides approximately 25 exclusive, retained searches in the areas of technical management, technology, and business and sales management.


For a leading consumer product food company, with major international joint ventures, conducted an executive search for a Corporate Computer Integrated Manufacturing Information Systems Manager, to direct this company in their goal of being a world class integrated manufacturing and processing leader within their industry. Subsequent search assignments were for a plant personnel manager.


Successfully staffed a 34 member transition team for Chase Manhattan enabling a large system migration from IBM mainframe to client server technologies. Project was fully staffed in three months.


Retained by Teledyne, K&A has recently filled several senior international sales, corporate marketing and technical positions.


Successfully staffed a project leader/business analyst position for a major pharmaceutical firm (Barr Pharmaceuticals) located in Westchester County, New York. This position reported directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), and will soon move into the CIO position.


Retained by General Mills International to staff two top managers in the Engineering, Technology and Operations group. The positions have corporate-wide responsibility for the controls and electrical and the advanced control and simulation functions. As a result of these and other successful staffing assignments, K&A has been retained as a "Preferred Staffing Firm" by General Mills. In this capacity, K&A has recently filled several process control engineering and technical manager positions.


Involved in a major information technology staffing engagement for a top-tier brokerage house headquartered on Wall Street in New York, NY. Positions ranged from junior programmers to Sr. Project Management.


Completed several successful manager/senior manager searches for four of the Big Six consulting firms.


Executed a search for one of the foremost, internationally-known management consulting firms to identify a partner for their world-wide Telecommunications Consulting Practice.


Interviewed senior human resource professionals from multi-national corporations to gain organizational insight. Subsequently, this information was used by a major insurance company to effect a restructuring of their human resource organization.


Conducted a competitor analysis and market study for a major human resource consulting firm identifying industry trends and potential business opportunities.


For one of the largest, fastest growing consulting firms, specializing in information technology, manufacturing operations and business strategy, started an engagement by identifying and contacting qualified consultants and collected data on their careers. Profiles were then entered into a database that reached over 1,500 consultants. Recently, managed a highly-structured interview process for a field of more than 100 candidates.


Main liaison for the T.J. Watson Research Center multi-media project. Staffed all technical positions, as well as any peripheral positions from administrative to creative positions.


For two of the largest worldwide systems integration and information technology companies, completing an exclusive mass hiring engagement for a variety of information technology professionals for various locations across the U.S.


We have successfully completed six corporate finance assignments for a Fortune 50 company, from the Director level down to Project Management. The department consists of Capital Markets, Capital Planning and Capital Investments.


We have completed two international treasury searches for this department for a Fortune 50 company; one was the Director for Latin America and the other was the Manager for Europe. This department is structured to support Latin America and Europe from New York and has an office in Hong Kong that supports the Far East Region.


We have completed four searches for the global operations department of a Fortune 50 company. Three were in the Global Cash Management area and the fourth was the Director of Mergers and Acquisitions. This department is composed of Cash Management, M&A, and Risk Management.


For the Corporate Strategic Planning group of a Fortune 50 company, we have supported three operating divisions, the corporate development program, and the core process reporting system. We have been working with this department since 1994 and have placed two managers. As of this writing, we have two offers extended, one for the Director of International Restaurants and a second for an Associate level position in the domestic restaurants area.


We have been successful in placing two individuals in the Benefits and Compensation Departments of a Fortune 50 company. One is the Senior Manager of Pension Plans, and the other is responsible for health and welfare plan development. We have placed one person as a Corporate Compensation Analyst. Also, we have successfully completed two searches in the Corporate Tax Department, one for the Director and one for the Manager of Planning, and an international Tax Analyst.

For an $8 billion domestic consumer product company, the A-1/Mustard group of Nabisco in Baltimore, we engaged in a search for a Senior Production Manager (the #2 person in plant). This assignment required the candidate to have 8-12 years experience in the manufacturing/process environment. This was a diversity search.


For the same client, we are also searched for a Business Manager of Hispanic heritage. This was a P/L position with plant, product and marketing responsibility.


For a $5 billion division of a global consumer product company, namely the Technical and Operations Division of Pepsi Food and Beverage, we recruited a diversity candidate with consulting and plant/procurement experience (an engineer with a MBA degree). This individual is responsible for developing strategic sourcing on a global basis in coordination with the strategic planning and technical/operations departments.


For a $5 billion consumer food division, namely Pepsi Cola International, we recruited a diversity candidate for the position of Planning and Development in the technical/operations area. This individual had a technical undergraduate degree with an MBA degree and eight years experience.


For an $8 billion international restaurant division, namely KFC R&D Center in Louisville, the firm researched and benchmarked sensory research Ph.D.'s within the food industry. This project, and follow-up recommendations, resulted in the restructuring of the profile and overall experience of this department's candidate requirements.


Retained by a coalition of two dot com insurance providers to identify and help hire operational and marketing/sales executives, account managers and software managers and specialists. Results were five key persons hired in first months of recruiting activity.
